Choosing a floor plan for your first home is again, a very personal thing.
Everyone has different needs for their living habits and we are no exception!
Everyone has different needs for their living habits and we are no exception!
Here are a few things i was looking for in a floorplan:
• 3-4 bedrooms
• Rumpus room (joined to the spare bedrooms and away from the main living area)
• Separate Study (I'm a graphic designer so i need space!)
• Large WIR in ensuite (I have ALOT of clothes)
• Between 20-30sqm in size
• House and Land package with upgrades around $400k.
Optional extras that would be nice:
• Bath in ensuite (ya dreamin)
• Window splashback in kitchen looking out to yard (rare in smaller houses)
Fortunately for us, Carlisle homes have a really user friendly and in-depth website!
Please note: If you have a business, i WILL judge your business by your website. First impressions are everything folks! I can't help it. It's a disease. Do it well or don't do it at all.
Anyways! Carlisle homes website is awesome if you want to narrow down your search. They have this little tick box bar that you can select what you like in a home and it will show you the house that suits your needs:
Then all you have to do is shortlist the ones that you think might be good for you and proceed to spend countless hours strolling around display villages looking for "The One".
So that being said, we really only fell in love with one floor plan that Carlisle homes offers when we were actually searching through the homes in person.
Online based off the plans, the contenders were:
Addison, Dakota, Illuka, Westwood.
But when it came to actually seeing it with our own eyes, the Addison won the race!
Carlisle Homes - Addison 24
Reasons we love the Addison:
• As you enter the house you can see right down the hallway to the other end! I love this.
• To the right is the master bedroom which is really generous in size.
• The ensuite is connected to the Walk in robe which is exactly what i wanted. Plus it is almost it's own separate little room. Plenty of space for my ever growing clothing collection. We'll be able to walk 'starkas' from the shower to the WIR to change.
• The ensuite toilet is it's own little room, which is good! No one wants to see that.
• As you go further down the hall to the left is the laundry, linen closet and garage, which i really think makes perfect sense to have them all together in a little niche like that! Nath will probably set up a bit of a man cave in the Garage, along with Drums, Tool workspace and home gym for the both of us.
• You then see the theatre/rumpus room to the left, which is awesomely designed with an open feel having the TV wall in the centre with two exits.
• The two spare bedrooms and bathroom are off to the right of this, which again makes perfect sense to me being separated off into a little 'Kids Wing' or 'Guest wing'. Especially if they were using the rumpus as a study area also.
• Bath in the spare bathroom (i only wish i could have one in the Master Ensuite!)
• You then reach the end of the hall as it opens up into the open plan living area!
• Galley style kitchen with room for stools along the bench for cooking/gossip and baking lessons with the kids or my mum.
• Large walk in pantry! Yeah!
• Little nook for the kitchen table with a big wall to put a gorgeous floor to ceiling mirror.
• Huge living area for TV and lounging around that opens out to the alfresco.
• Separate study area off to the right which allows me to either shut off to the rest of the house or open it up to make me feel included, with a sliding door that follows out to the garden and yard.
And that's it! We can't wait until we can actually start the process of buying and building this little gem. Now comes the saving part... $$$
