Landscaping

So we are currently trying to decide if we change the house on the position of the block. Currently it looks like the right hand drawing, with the larger side yard on the left of the house. Which means if we wanted to put in a double gate to allow for a camper trailer or whatnot up the side you would have to have a separate driveway...

Soooo

We were thinking maybe we swap it so that the large side yard is on the right side of the house which means you can just use the driveway from the garage and make it curve to the side to allow use of the side yard to park a boat/trailer/camper trailer etc.

Currently speaking to our CLE to see if there would be any issues and if it's not too late to change it as we just had our tender.

Update: Spoke to our CLE and the only issue would be that we would need to move our crossover for it to align with the garage (which would have to happen POST-land settlement so that we wouldn't hold up the whole stage) even though our street is currently dirt and doesn't have gutters or sidewalk etc yet! Argh.

So they said after land settlement we would have to contact council and the would send out an engineer to assess if it was possible to move or extend the crossover and then we would pay a concreter to remove and replace the existing crossover.

Here is a plan below of what it would look like if we don't move or extend the crossover (which isn't entirely that bad!) So we are going to go ahead and move the house to the left of the block, which we will fix up at contract signing as a post-contract amendment. Then afterwards we will assess if it is worth extending or moving the crossover to make the angle into the garage a little less steep for backing out.

We went for a drive around our estate and found some other houses that had done the same thing with their side yard, so i took some sneaky photos as reference!

May or may not have photoshopped our house into the photo to see the side yard... haha (excuse the bad photoshopping)

Below is a photo of the side gate at my parents house, which i really love. We are thinking we will have something similar!

We went for a drive to the Mooabbin DFO and next door there was a pot shop that sold a heap of garden ornaments, dog kennels and sheds. We really liked the size etc of the shed below as well as the wine barrel/water pump garden feature. Also thought it would be handy for our fussy cat who only likes to drink water from a running source. haha
